Job Title: HSE TRAINING INSTRUCTOR
Location: MUSCAT, OMAN
Reports To: HSE Manager / Training Manager
Job Purpose:
The HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality training and educational programs that promote safe work practices, environmental awareness, and regulatory compliance across various industries. The role requires expertise in health, safety, and environmental regulations, and the ability to teach and assess learners effectively in both classroom and field settings whenever required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training Delivery:
- Conduct engaging and informative training sessions on a variety of HSE topics, including but not limited to workplace safety, risk management, emergency response, environmental sustainability, hazardous materials handling, and compliance with local and international regulations.
- Develop and implement training programs and curricula that meet industry standards and organizational requirements.
- Lead both theoretical and practical training, using diverse instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Assess trainees’ knowledge and skills through tests, drills, and evaluations to ensure competency in HSE practices.
- Curriculum Development & Improvement:
- Develop training materials, including presentations, manuals, safety documents, and practical exercises.
- Continuously update training content to reflect changes in legislation, industry best practices, and emerging risks.
- Tailor training programs to address specific needs of the organization or industry sector (e.g., construction, oil & gas, manufacturing).
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure training programs comply with all relevant local, state, and federal HSE regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, certifications, and performance evaluations.
- Assist in the preparation of reports for management and regulatory bodies on training outcomes and compliance status.
- Consultation & Support:
- Provide on-site consultation and support to employees and management on HSE matters.
- Assist with the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Support HSE audits and inspections by ensuring the workforce is well-trained and prepared for compliance checks.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in continuous professional development to stay up-to-date on current HSE trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Solicit feedback from trainees and stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of training programs.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HSE roles, with at least 2 years in a training or instructional capacity.
- Hands-on experience in conducting safety training for various industries.
- Familiarity with relevant HSE laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Ability to assess and evaluate trainee performance and knowledge retention.
- Proficient in using training tools and technology, such as e-learning platforms and presentation software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple training programs concurrently.
